500 mensen bij herdenking Armeense genocide

ASSEN (ANP) – De herdenking van de Armeense genocide is zondag in Assen door ongeveer vijfhonderd mensen bijgewoond. Dat heeft een woordvoerster van de organisatie, de Federatie Armeense Organisaties Nederland (FAON), laten weten.

De jaarlijkse herdenking, die voor het eerst samenviel met eerste paasdag, had plaats bij het Armeense genocidemonument op begraafplaats De Boskamp in Assen. Daar waren onder meer een dienst, enkele toespraken en muziek en werden kransen gelegd.

Armeniërs herdenken elk jaar genocide van 1915. Afgelopen dinsdag waren er al een demonstratie op het Plein in Den Haag en een herdenkingsconcert.

500 people at the commemoration of Armenian Genocide

ASSEN (ANP) – On Sunday about five hundred people attended the commemoration of the Armenian Genocide in Assen. A spokesperson of the Federation of Armenian Organisations in The Netherlands (FAON), reported.

The annual commemoration, which coincided this year for the first time with the Easter Sunday, took place at the Armenian Genocide Memorial at the cemetery De Boskamp in Assen. That included among others a religious service, speeches, music and laying of wreaths.

Armenians commemorate each year the Genocide of 1915. Last Tuesday there were a Rally and Demonstration in Het Plein in The Hague and a Remembrance Concert.
